National Teachers Day is observed every year in the United States in the month of May. This year 4th May will be observed as National Teachers Day 2022. National Teacher Appreciation Day is another name for this occasion. The first Tuesday of the first full week of May (May 4) is National Teacher Day, and we’re more than happy to express our gratitude to those who have trained us. Everyone has a favorite teacher who has had a profound influence on them. A teacher came up with the idea for this day to commemorate them.
First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt was more than just Franklin D. Roosevelt’s wife; she was both a social organizer and a supporter of fellow educators. Her interest in education started at a young age when her aunt Anna “Barnie” Roosevelt tutored and inspired her. She never forgot who she was, no matter how far she climbed on the social ladder. The work of teachers is admired in many nations, including the United States. Since 1985, National Teacher Day has been observed in the United States.

The National Teacher Day 2022 is observed on May 4th in the United States and many other countries of the world.
History of National Teacher Day:
Eleanor Roosevelt addressed Congress in 1953, attempting to persuade them that teachers deserved a day to be remembered for their efforts. The day’s celebration had been a mystery until that time. Many schools in some states are thought to have already observed the day, but there was no firm agreement, and she decided to make it official.
The National Education Association (NEA), in collaboration with the Kansas State and Indiana State Boards of Education, successfully persuaded Congress to recognize the day. Despite her best intentions, it wasn’t until 1980 that the first National Teacher Day became an official national holiday. National Teacher Day was first observed on March 7th but was later shifted to May in 1984. It grew into Teacher Appreciation Week with the support of the National PTA, allowing teachers more time to revel in their gratitude. The NEA declared the first Tuesday of each week to be National Teacher Appreciation Day a year later.
